"To become captivated by a passion at a young age means being spellbound by it for the rest of your life. In my case, it all began in 1972, whilst doing my military service, when I bought a block of briar and had fun carving a pipe out of it. From a simple pastime, a lifelong passion was born.  In the years that followed, I deepened my knowledge of Erica arborea, immersing myself in the centuries-old culture that is the art of pipe-making. In 1984, I began signing my creations with the brand name ‘La Pipa di Viprati’ and, shortly afterwards, I met Alberto Paronelli, a renowned pipe maker and founder of a major pipe museum.
