Cerrato Rodate

Luciano Cerrato, born in 1917, devoted to his hobby the passion and skill that made him a master of his craft. He began smoking a pipe at the age of 18, and this passion led him, in the early 1960s, to take up pipe-making as a hobby. As soon as he retired, he devoted himself fully to pipe-making, producing 150–200 pipes a year entirely by hand. Most of his pipes (around 90%) are smooth and flamed, thanks in part to the exceptional quality of the briar he works with. The pipes are crafted from his own designs, in free-form or classic shapes. The distinctive design of his pipes has made them famous throughout the country, and Pertini was a great admirer of his work. His pipes are renowned for their impossible drilling; the stems are drilled with a double curve, and he is the only person in the world to produce this type of drilling.
