Bari Rodate

Pipe Bari was founded in 1950 by Viggo Nielsen in Kolding, Denmark. It enjoyed great success in offering models with classic Danish design. He was later joined in production by his sons Kai and Jorgen, who had grown up on black rye bread and pipes. His success was worldwide, and in 1978, when he sold the company to Van Eicken, he had 33 employees. From 1978 to 1993, Åge Bogelund and Helmer Thomsen led the production of Bari pipes. Their way of working remained the same for decades, with pipes first rough-cut by machine and then carefully finished by hand, one by one. The result was pipes that were not overly elaborate, but substantial and reliable, everyday companions. Their creations are still highly prized by collectors around the world today.
