Grenci Rodate

Vincenzo Grenci inherited his passion for pipe-making from his father Domenico, a craftsman since 1962, in the workshop at Brognaturo, in the Calabrian Serre mountains in the province of Vibo Valentia. To craft his beautiful, high-quality pipes, he uses only Calabrian briar, which he personally sources and only uses after it has been seasoned for twenty years. The work is entirely by hand, with which he creates classic shapes or, at times, highly imaginative free-form designs, resulting in truly unique products that do not leave the workshop until Master Grenci is completely satisfied. His long experience allows him to ‘read’ the briar like few others, managing to enhance the grain or the ‘partridge eye’, for a final result that is always of the highest standard. The history of the Grenci pipe has a bright future, as Vincenzo’s daughter is already learning the secrets of the trade alongside her father. His production is limited to fewer than 300 pieces a year.
