Mauro Gilli is well known in the pipe-smoking community. For years he has been a skilled repairer, highly regarded throughout Italy. He enjoyed sculpting and painting, with excellent results. His hands were capable of repairing pipes that seemed beyond repair. He gained experience little by little, building the tools he needed and experimenting with new polishing products. In his spare time, he made a few pipes that were highly sought after. He built a reputation as the best repairer in Italy and passed on all his knowledge to his grandson, Simone Gilli, who worked alongside him for years, learning the secrets of the trade. Gilli Pipe is now owned by Simone Gilli, who continues the family tradition, bringing a typically British style to his pipes. All pipes are oil cured.
