A black sandblasted Vitale pipe, a classic straight Dublin model with a black ebonite mouthpiece. 2-star rating. The pipe has a classic, understated design that makes it very elegant, with a deep, dark colour that lends it a touch of class. A model inspired by Scandinavian classics, it remains timeless and never goes out of fashion. Its defining feature is the tall bowl with a rim and a stem that fits the mouthpiece at the end of the shank, giving it a very refined look. The pipe is medium to large in size and stands out for its spacious bowl, ensuring excellent smokeability in any situation. Its lightness makes it ideal for any smoking session, whether out for a walk or comfortably seated in an armchair. The bowl features beautiful, very dense flamed grain, highlighted by the fine sandblasting. The tall, deep bowl delivers dry, cool smokes. The mouthpiece is spectacularly crafted: slim and comfortable, with a ‘tooth’ just the right height for absolute comfort whilst smoking. The sandblasting is achieved by striking the pipe with tiny grains of silica at high pressure, which carve into the soft part of the briar, creating the distinctive pattern of a sandblasted pipe. It is the most robust pipe, as if any small cracks were present, the silica would pierce the briar immediately. The process is lengthy and difficult to execute but yields a final result of great impact. The quality is on a par with all other Vitale pipes. It is available in hazelnut, brown, black, red and natural. An ideal pipe for the warmer months as it warms the hand less. Excellent for walking, given its reduced tendency to show streaks and marks. Piero Vitale is a young, up-and-coming craftsman who demonstrates great skill, rivalling that of more experienced artisans. The value for money is exceptional.

The actual colour of the pipe may vary slightly from the photo as every monitor displays colours differently. The dimensions have been measured accurately but may vary by a millimetre, either way.
