A brown, sandblasted Savinelli Punto Oro Gold pipe, with a black methacrylate mouthpiece, in the classic straight 901 oval billiard style. The pipe is designed to be smoked with a 6 mm balsa wood filter. It is a very elegant and refined pipe; a classic that never goes out of fashion. It is small to medium in size and stands out for its more than adequate bowl capacity, ensuring excellent smokeability in any situation, whether out for a walk or comfortably seated in an armchair. It is a very classic model, also known as a ‘theatre pipe’ because it is flattened at the sides and fits comfortably in a breast pocket without bulging it out. It is said that it was once used during intervals for a quick smoke. It is not a pipe for beginners, as the oval bowl requires a sharp tamper and a degree of skill to work. The pipe features extraordinary flamed grain, enhanced by the fine sandblasting. Savinelli has chosen to enrich the Punto Oro series, a historic pipe dating back to 1958, with the Gold line. The same manufacturing characteristics, with a quality even superior to that of the early days, a single black methacrylate mouthpiece and a larger gold dot on the mouthpiece, applied by hand by cutting a solid brass bar. The briar is selected from the finest stocks and the pipe features a beautiful, even grain. It is produced in only a few models and availability is limited. The rough finish is ideal for the warmer months as it warms the hand less. Excellent for carrying about given its reduced tendency to show scratches and marks.
The pipe for sale is exactly the one shown in the photos. Once sold, as it is handmade and therefore unique, the pipe will be removed from the website. The actual colour of the pipe may vary slightly from the photo as every monitor has its own colour tone. The dimensions have been measured accurately but may vary by a millimetre, either way.
