Mummert The Barrel Chubby Calabash Reverse

Mummert The Barrel Chubby pipe, sandblasted black, original straight cylindrical model with black ebonite mouthpiece. Unique rating. The pipe has an original and essential design that makes it very elegant, with a dark colour that gives it a superior class. An original model invented by Werner, which has now become his trademark and is always contemporary and pleasant to smoke. It is a Calabash Reverse, which are pipes with a generously sized stem because they have a very large expansion chamber. This, thanks to the short, convex stem, creates a vortex that allows the smoke to expand and cool, giving unusually fresh puffs. The difference compared to 'traditional' pipes is remarkable and very pleasant. Even the tobacco yields more as it remains dry until the end of the smoke. The shapes are squat due to construction requirements, but the pipes are practical and cheerful, especially in this unconventional model, which breaks with traditional construction standards. The pipe has sharp edges and a brightly coloured inlay that highlight the perfection of Werner's craftsmanship. The flaming is very beautiful and regular across the entire cylinder, enhanced by its very personal sandblasting. Finally, the mouthpiece, made with meticulous precision, has a thin shank that is perfect for absolute comfort between the teeth. The pipe is medium in size and features a discreet bowl for excellent smokeability in any situation. Its lightness makes it ideal for smoking while walking or sitting comfortably in an armchair. The exquisite sandblasting technique is one of the most appreciated features of Werner's pipes, making them look almost sculpted and always unique. To achieve this result, he sands the pipe several times with silica grains of different sizes. The final step is carried out with an airbrush to ensure absolute precision and to be able to follow the grain of the briar meticulously, giving it greater depth. The sandblasted series features pipes with small defects in the briar and a beautiful, regular grain. Sandblasting is done by hitting the pipe with tiny silica grains at high pressure, which dig into the soft part of the briar, creating the distinctive pattern of the sandblasted pipe. It is the healthiest pipe because if there were any small cracks, the silica would pierce the block immediately. The process is long and difficult to perform but gives a stunning final result. The quality is the same as all other Mummert pipes. It is available in hazelnut, brown, black, red and natural colours. This pipe is ideal for the warmer months as it does not heat up the hand as much. It is excellent for walking as it is less prone to scratches and marks. Werner Mummert is considered a master for his impeccable technique in creating his 'jewels'.

Werner Mummert is one of Germany's leading pipe makers. He has been producing pipes for over 40 years and his creations are considered technically perfect. He uses precision tools to make them and each pipe is a unique, handmade piece. His shapes are often whimsical and original and are recognisable for their harmonious and never banal lines. Mummert is an affable person and is used to thinking outside the box. When you see one of his pipes, you often wonder why no one else has had this idea before. Just think of his apple pipes with their large, sinuous stems and short, almost vertical mouthpieces, or his reverse calabash barrel pipes, which immediately bring a smile to your face. His technical skills have taken the sandblasting of his pipes to a higher level. Rather than designing the briar, he sculpts it, and this is his most appreciated finishing touch. His annual production is very limited, and we are proud to be able to offer his fantastic creations.
