Black sandblasted Sesa pipe, classic curved billiard model with grey/ochre variegated ebonite mouthpiece. Rating: 3 stars. The pipe is very elegant and refined, with an original, deep and symmetrical rustication reminiscent of Werner Mummert's sandblasting. The result is impressive, with a surface reminiscent of Bee Hives, which exploits the principle of cylinder lamellae to cool the pipe more effectively. Your hand will never get hot and smoking will be very pleasant. The workmanship is long and thorough, but the result takes it to a higher level. The German ebonite mouthpiece has a beautiful variegated colouring that gives the pipe a superior class. The boxwood stem is also very beautiful. The pipe is medium/large in size and stands out for its more than capable bowl, which provides excellent smokeability in any situation. Its lightness makes it ideal for smoking while walking or sitting comfortably in an armchair. It is a classic model that remains timeless and pleasant to hold and smoke.
Branko Sesa was born in Croatia in 1962. He has always worked with wood, but it was when he arrived in Turin about twenty years ago that he began making pipes. Thanks to the experience and valuable advice of his friend Mauro Gilli, he started his own workshop. Given his innate curiosity, he experimented with many types of wood before settling on briar, olive wood and Bog Oak (Morta). The latter characterises his production as he has stocked up on excellent quality raw materials in Croatia. He mainly prefers classic shapes but does not disdain creating beautiful freeforms. Annual production is very low but of undoubted quality.
