Savinelli Punto Oro mahogany pipe, smooth burgundy colour, model 1002, classic straight billiard with black ebonite mouthpiece. Punto Oro Mahogany rating. The pipe is visually striking with its classic design, which makes it very elegant. The pipe bowl has a beautiful English cut flame with a discreet bird's eye on the sides of the bowl, but the wood pattern is still very pleasing. It is medium in size and stands out for its capable bowl, which guarantees excellent smokeability in any situation. Its extraordinary lightness, due to the long seasoning of the briar, makes it ideal for smoking while walking or sitting comfortably in an armchair. This series is what made Savinelli famous and appreciated all over the world. A timeless classic that never tires. This pipe was produced before 1962, as can be seen from some of its characteristics. The gold dot on the mouthpiece is smaller than the current ones, and the 1002 model dates back to those years, which was later changed from four to three digits. These factors place it in those golden years when Savinelli was a true national treasure, admired and appreciated all over the world. The pipe is used, in good condition and smoked very well, mainly with natural tobaccos or English mixtures. Rating 9 out of 10. The pipe does not have its original bag or box.
Achille Savinelli opened his shop in Milan in 1876. With quality products and courteous service, the shop was an immediate success. In 1920, his son Carlo introduced Savinelli-branded pipes, which he had manufactured in the Varese area. In 1948, the Savinelli pipe factory was founded in Barasso, where it still resides today. The brand quickly became prestigious throughout the world and, in the 1950s and 1960s, around a thousand pipes were produced every day. The designs were inspired by classic English models, with the introduction of some variations that would become 'typical' Savinelli models. Alongside these pipes, Savinelli produced the Autograph, which were also made entirely by hand with an imaginative design that was still recognisable as the brand. A characteristic feature of Savinelli pipes is the balsa system, a balsa wood filter that absorbs moisture from the smoke and makes it more pleasant. The system works but is little used by smokers. Savinelli has been producing pipes for over 140 years and, although snubbed by some 'expert' smokers, it still creates real gems that deserve attention and respect.
The pipes we sell second-hand are only from the best and most prestigious brands and are rigorously selected by me from private collections. The pipes in question must have been well cared for and smoked, generally smoked little, and are sanitised before being put up for sale. In fact, once selected, they are disinfected and the interior sterilised, the mouthpiece is sanded and the entire pipe polished, including the bowl and mouthpiece. Casaropipe guarantees that at this point they are ready to continue to give satisfaction to a new enthusiast.

The pipe for sale is exactly as shown in the photos. Once sold, as it is handmade and therefore unique, the pipe will be removed from the website. The actual colour of the pipe may vary slightly from the photo as each monitor has its own colour tone. The dimensions have been measured accurately but may vary by a millimetre, either more or less.
