Savinelli Oscar pipe, smooth brown finish, with black ebonite mouthpiece, classic apple model 2003. Oscar evaluation group. The pipe is NOT designed to be smoked with a 6 mm balsa filter. The pipe is very elegant and refined; a classic that never gets old. It is small/medium in size and stands out for its discreet bowl, which provides excellent smokeability in any situation, whether walking or sitting comfortably in an armchair. The pipe does not have a flame pattern, but the wood grain is still beautiful and in excellent condition. This pipe was produced in the 1960s/1970s, as can be seen from one of its characteristics. The model code, 2003, dates back to those years and was later changed to a three-digit code. Today, the apple has the code 202. The pipe is stamped with 'Aged Brian' to indicate that it was made from a piece of briar that has been aged for a long time. Savinelli Oscar pipes are the most economical pipes but always guarantee a good smoke. They are basic pipes, which rarely have beautiful grain, with obvious fill spots but excellent for carrying around without fear of damaging them. An honest and solid pipe, suitable for everyday use and capable of doing the job it was made for. The pipe is used, smoked well and sparingly, mainly with natural tobaccos or English mixtures. Rating 8 out of 10. The pipe does not have its original bag or box.
Achille Savinelli opened his shop in Milan in 1876. With quality products and courteous service, the shop was an immediate success. In 1920, his son Carlo introduced Savinelli-branded pipes, which he had manufactured in the Varese area. In 1948, the Savinelli pipe factory was founded in Barasso, where it still resides today. The brand quickly became prestigious throughout the world and, in the 1950s and 1960s, around a thousand pipes were produced every day. The designs were inspired by classic English models, with the introduction of some variations that would become 'typical' Savinelli models. Alongside these pipes, Savinelli produced the Autograph, which were also made entirely by hand with imaginative designs that still bore the brand's hallmark. A characteristic feature of Savinelli pipes is the balsa system, a balsa wood filter that absorbs moisture from the smoke and makes it more pleasant. The system works but is little used by smokers. Savinelli has been producing pipes for over 140 years and, although snubbed by some 'expert' smokers, it still creates real gems that deserve attention and respect.
The pipes we sell second-hand are only from the best and most prestigious brands and are rigorously selected by me from private collections. The pipes in question must have been well cared for and smoked, generally smoked little, and are sanitised before being put up for sale. In fact, once selected, they are disinfected and the interior sterilised, the mouthpiece is sanded and the entire pipe polished, including the bowl and mouthpiece. Casaropipe guarantees that at this point they are ready to continue to give satisfaction to a new enthusiast.

The pipe for sale is exactly as shown in the photos. Once sold, as it is handmade and therefore unique, the pipe will be removed from the website. The actual colour of the pipe may vary slightly from the photo as each monitor has its own colour tone. The dimensions have been measured accurately but may vary by a millimetre, either more or less.
