A smooth-finished, brown Peterson Standard Large pipe with genuine nickel plating and an ebonite mouthpiece featuring a black palatal rim, in the classic curved 312 billiard style. Graded ‘Standard Smooth’. This is the quintessential entry-level Peterson. The series is characterised by a warm, dark brown colour and beautiful English-cut flamed grain, with a hint of partridge eye on one side of the bowl, giving it a very elegant look. It is one of Peterson’s historic series – among the oldest – whose pipes are all crafted from extra briar logs. This pipe features beautiful English-cut grain with a fine partridge’s eye on one side of the bowl, giving it a touch of class. It is characterised by hard briar that requires many smokes before it is broken in. But those with the patience to follow this arduous process will eventually find themselves smoking a pipe that delivers intense and distinctive flavours in the typical Peterson tradition. The pipe is of medium size and is distinguished by a generous bowl that guarantees excellent smokeability in any situation. Whilst it is not exceptionally light, its pronounced curve nevertheless makes it ideal for smoking both whilst out walking and whilst comfortably seated in an armchair. This is not a pipe for beginners, but rather for those who wish to rediscover a personal and intense flavour that, unfortunately, is disappearing. The underside of the mouthpiece bears a distinct mark and the briar is extremely well-seasoned. The pipe is second-hand, has been smoked well but not excessively, and is in more than good condition.The pipe comes without its original pouch or box but is supplied with the shop’s own pouch.
The second-hand pipes we deal in are exclusively from the finest and most prestigious brands and are rigorously selected by me from private collections. The pipes in question must have been well cared for and smoked properly; they have generally been smoked sparingly and are sanitised before being put up for sale. In fact, once selected, they are disinfected and the interior sterilised; the mouthpiece is cleaned and the entire pipe – both the bowl and the mouthpiece – is polished. Casaropipe guarantees that, at this stage, they are ready to continue bringing pleasure to a new enthusiast.
The pipe for sale is exactly as shown in the photographs. Once sold, as it is handmade and therefore unique, the pipe will be removed from the website. The actual colour of the pipe may vary slightly from the photograph, as every monitor displays colours differently. The dimensions have been measured accurately but may vary by up to one millimetre, either way.
