A sandblasted dark brown Peterson Old Golfer pipe with genuine army silver trim and a black ebonite mouthpiece, classic straight billiard X105 model. Golfer rating. The series was characterised by pipes with standard-sized bowls but a short mouthpiece, making them perfect for a ‘nose-burner’. Their warm brown colour lent them elegance and refinement, and they were embellished with a fine army silver band, which also made them particularly valuable. The visual impact is striking, cheerful and youthful, thanks to its compact size. The pipe has beautiful, traditionally cut grain, which is highlighted by the fine sandblasting. The pipe is of medium size and is distinguished by a spacious bowl that guarantees excellent smokeability in any situation. Its lightness is due to the long curing of the briar, making it ideal for smoking both whilst out and about and whilst comfortably seated in an armchair. Its compact size makes it ideal for carrying around as an everyday pipe. The ‘Golfer’ pipes were all crafted from Extra-grade briar and did not require a long break-in period. An ideal pipe for the warmer months as it warms the hand less. Excellent for walking, given its reduced tendency to develop streaks and blemishes. The pipe was produced in 1988, 38 years ago, during what is known as the Republic Era. The pipe is not an ‘unsmoked’ summer pipe as it has always been stored in our warehouse.
