A sandblasted Castello Old Antiquari pipe in a hazelnut colour with a black methacrylate mouthpiece, in the classic semi-curved billiard style. Grade 4K. The Castello embodies the finest Italian craftsmanship, appreciated worldwide for its attention to detail and unrivalled style. The defining feature of this model is its classic design, which gives it a very elegant and refined appearance. The pipe features a beautiful, even grain pattern that is highlighted by the fine sandblasting. It is of medium size and stands out for its more than ample bowl and excellent smokeability in any situation, whether out for a walk or comfortably seated in an armchair. The rim of the bowl and the wavy floc-style mouthpiece joint are particularly distinctive and attractive. The Old Antiquari series comprises pipes with minor flaws in the briar and a beautiful, regular grain. The sandblasting is achieved by striking the pipe with tiny grains of silica at high pressure, which carve into the soft part of the briar, creating the distinctive pattern of a sandblasted pipe. It is the most robust pipe, as if any small cracks were through-going, the silica would pierce the briar immediately. The process is long and difficult to carry out but yields a final result of great effect. The quality is the same as all other Castello pipes. It is available in hazelnut, brown, black, red and natural colours. An ideal pipe for the warmer months as it warms the hand less. Excellent for carrying about given its reduced tendency to show scratches and marks.
