The pipe is very elegant and refined, and its white colour gives it a sense of purity. It has been hand-carved by expert Turkish craftsmen, making it a true work of art. The pipe is generously sized and features a more than capable bowl for excellent smoking in any situation. Its lightness makes it ideal for smoking while walking or sitting comfortably in an armchair, although many people do not risk carrying it around. In fact, if a meerschaum pipe falls on the ground, only the mouthpiece can be saved. The characteristic of meerschaum is that it enhances the taste of tobacco without adding or taking anything away. It is said to have no memory because, even when changing blends, it leaves no unpleasant residues. It does not need to be broken in and does not burn. The beauty of meerschaum is seeing the changes it undergoes with each smoke. It changes from white to amber, then to pink and finally to brown. The shade of colour changes depending on the thickness, giving these carved pipes greater depth.
Lubinski Meerschaum pipes are all made from blocks of foam. First, the blocks are cut to the right size, softened in water and then, while still damp, turned and drilled, and often carved or decorated. Finally, the turned or carved heads are dipped in lightened white wax. The Lubinski catalogue offers meerschaum pipes, exclusively Turkish block pipes, made exclusively to design by the Sekergioglu brothers of Eşkisehir. Usually, the classification of meerschaum pipes by value, in classic shapes, takes into account the size of the raw block and mainly the height of the bowl. This results in a classification into groups from 5 (small) to 10 (giant). All pipes are individually packaged using a unique handcrafted process.
