Castello Old Antiquari Apple Mod. 23 Sfumata 2K

Castello Old Antiquari pipe, sandblasted with a shaded colour and black methacrylate mouthpiece, classic apple model 23. 2K rating. Castello represents the expression of the finest Italian craftsmanship, appreciated worldwide for its attention to detail and unparalleled taste. The characteristic feature of this model is its classic style, which makes it elegant and timeless. Its shaded colour is very distinctive, fading from black to hazelnut brown, which makes it very refined, accentuated by its clean, linear lines that make it an extraordinary piece. This finish is very difficult to achieve, but the result is impressive. A pipe that is very pleasant to hold, even when not lit. This model is the classic apple shape, always fashionable and never tiresome. It has a beautiful flame pattern that is enhanced by the fine sandblasting. The floc joint is very convenient as the pipe can be dismantled even when hot. The pipe is small/medium in size and stands out for its discreet bowl and excellent smokeability in any situation, whether walking or sitting comfortably in an armchair. The Old Antiquari series features pipes with small defects in the briar and a beautiful, regular grain. The sandblasting is done by hitting the pipe with tiny grains of silica at high pressure, which dig into the soft part of the briar, creating the distinctive pattern of the sandblasted pipe. It is the healthiest pipe because if the small cracks were through-going, the silica would pierce the stump immediately. The process is long and difficult to perform but gives a striking final result. The quality is the same as all other Castello pipes. It is available in hazelnut, brown, black, red and natural colours. This pipe is ideal for the warmer months as it does not heat up the hand as much. It is excellent for walking as it is less prone to scratches and marks.

Castello is an expression of the finest Italian craftsmanship, appreciated worldwide for its attention to detail and unparalleled taste. Castello Pipes was founded in 1947 by Carlo Scotti in Cantù. He hired the best craftsmen to create pipes with harmonious shapes and perfect finishes, using impeccable construction techniques. The name Castello was chosen with foresight as it is similar and recognisable in many languages. Furthermore, Castello is synonymous with solidity, power and admiration. Over the years, Carlo Scotti was joined by his son-in-law Franco Coppo, who now runs the artisan workshop. Castello's strength is based on several factors. Firstly, the expert craftsmen who shape the briar with their decades of experience and skill. Secondly, the long-aged briar, which guarantees light and dry pipes. Finally, the rigour of Carlo Scotti first and Franco Coppo later in creating the best possible product that reflects excellent aesthetics without neglecting functionality.
