Castello epitomises the finest Italian craftsmanship, appreciated worldwide for its attention to detail and unrivalled style. The defining feature of this model is its classic design, which makes it elegant and timeless. Its unique colour gradient fades from black to hazelnut via brown, giving it a very refined look, accentuated by its clean, linear lines that make it an extraordinary piece. This finish is very difficult to achieve, but the result is striking. A very pleasant pipe to hold, even when unlit. This model is the classic apple shape, always in style and never tiresome. It has a beautiful grain pattern that is enhanced by the fine sandblasting. The floc joint is very convenient as the pipe can be taken apart even whilst hot. The pipe is small to medium in size and is characterised by a discreet bowl and excellent smokeability in any situation, whether out for a walk or comfortably seated in an armchair. The Old Antiquari series comprises pipes with minor flaws in the briar and a beautiful, regular grain. The sandblasting is achieved by striking the pipe with tiny grains of silica at high pressure, which carve into the soft part of the briar, creating the distinctive pattern of a sandblasted pipe. It is the soundest pipe, as if the small cracks were through-going, the silica would pierce the briar immediately. The process is long and difficult to carry out but yields a final result of great effect. The quality is the same as all other Castello pipes. It is available in hazelnut, brown, black, red and natural colours. An ideal pipe for the warmer months as it warms the hand less. Excellent for walking, given its reduced tendency to develop streaks and marks.
The pipe for sale is exactly as shown in the photos. Once sold, as it is handmade and therefore unique, the pipe will be removed from the website. The actual colour of the pipe may vary slightly from the photo, as every monitor has its own colour tone. The dimensions have been measured accurately but may vary by a millimetre, either way.
