Black rusticated pipe, classic straight Hobo poker model with black ebonite mouthpiece. Unique rating. This is Mike's most famous model, which has earned him international acclaim. Its distinctive feature is the base of the bowl, which starts straight and then slopes forward, giving the pipe a very pleasing sense of harmony. The pipe has a fresh and very elegant line and is extremely pleasant to smoke. It is also very comfortable as it can be placed down without falling over. Mike learned the best from his mentor, Tom Eltang, enhancing a sense of proportion and good taste to create models that represented his personality and ideas, demonstrating his remarkable craftsmanship. The pipe is medium in size and features a more than discreet bowl that guarantees excellent smokeability in any situation. Its incredible lightness makes it ideal for smoking while walking or sitting comfortably in an armchair. Its rustication is an example of how to create something new and original. The inspiration came from observing the mark left on the sand by the wave that had just receded from the shore. Mike reproduces this same design on his beautiful pipes. The wave effect is remarkable, created on purpose with a long and meticulous process that makes the pipe anything but ordinary. Its long-seasoned briarwood ensures a consistently dry smoke. Personally, I find it an adorable pipe which, even with a small bowl, allows you to smoke comfortably for at least 45 minutes. Its lightness between the teeth makes it difficult to put down.
Mike Sebastian Bay is one of the youngest, most emerging and important pipe makers in Denmark. His career as a pipe maker began in 2015, working alongside Tom Eltang and learning the secrets of the trade. He quickly made a name for himself in the pipe world with his own style and character, creating compact models with a generous dose of Danish extravagance. He has invented new models, some of which have already become iconic, such as the Hobo Poker. His rustication is unique, inspired by the marks left on the sand after the tide goes out. This is an excellent opportunity to try a Danish High Grade pipe at a more affordable price.
The pipe for sale is exactly the one shown in the photos. Once sold, as it is handmade and therefore unique, the pipe will be removed from the website. The actual colour of the pipe may vary slightly from the photo as each monitor has its own shade. The dimensions have been taken accurately but may vary by a millimetre, either way.
