A smooth, well-worn brown Baldo Baldi pipe, a classic curved billiard model with a black methacrylate mouthpiece. A unique piece. This pipe is extremely refined – a classic that never grows old, no matter how many years pass. It makes a striking visual impression thanks to its harmonious, clean lines and its bowl, which is slightly flattened at the sides, lending it an air of absolute elegance. This pipe was produced by Baldo in his early years as a pipe maker, when he was already demonstrating his very personal design vision. He had not yet been ‘struck’ by Cubism or Futurism, but was exploring how to express the talent that would take his pipes all over the world, right to the MOMA in New York. The pipe features a beautiful, traditional-cut grain pattern that is decidedly dense, fading slightly on one side, yet the wood’s design remains marvellous. It is very pleasant to hold, with an almost ergonomic bowl. The rim of the bowl displays a beautiful, dense partridge-eye pattern that lends it elegance. The pipe is medium to large in size and stands out for its more than ample bowl, ensuring excellent smokeability in any situation. Its lightness makes it ideal for any smoking session, whether out for a walk or comfortably seated in an armchair. This is an excellent opportunity to smoke a pipe that has been highly significant on the global scene at a competitive price. The pipe was probably made in the early 1990s. Pipes of this calibre are almost impossible to find new and extremely rare second-hand, partly because those who own a pipe of this standard tend to hold on to it tightly. The pipe is second-hand, having been smoked both frequently and occasionally, mainly with natural tobaccos or English mixtures. Condition: 9 out of 10. The pipes come without their original pouch or box.
The second-hand pipes we deal in are only from the finest and most prestigious brands and are rigorously selected by me from private collections. The pipes in question must have been well cared for and smoked properly; generally, they have been smoked very little and are sanitised before being put up for sale. In fact, once selected, they are disinfected and the interior sterilised, the mouthpiece is cleaned and the entire pipe polished, including the bowl and mouthpiece. The pipe for sale is exactly as shown in the photos. Once sold, as it is handmade and therefore unique, the pipe will be removed from the website. The actual colour of the pipe may vary slightly from the photo, as every monitor has its own colour tone. The dimensions have been measured accurately but may vary by a millimetre, either more or less.
