A hazelnut-coloured, sandblasted Ashton Old Church pipe, a classic straight billiard model with a black ebonite (Asthonite) mouthpiece. Rated XXX Silver Army. The pipe is very elegant and the hazelnut colour lends it a touch of class. A very English, quintessentially classic model with an unmistakable style, which for many is the very embodiment of ‘The Pipe’. The distinctive feature of this pipe is the marvellous genuine silver army finish, which also makes it a valuable piece. A pipe of great class that is a pleasure to hold, even when unlit. A classic, beautiful model with a style that makes it very elegant and refined. It is of medium size and stands out for its spacious bowl, which guarantees excellent smokeability in any situation. Its lightness is also due to the special treatment of the briar, making it ideal for smoking both whilst out and about and whilst comfortably seated in an armchair. The pipe has a beautiful, regular English-cut grain with a lovely partridge’s eye on one side of the bowl, enhanced by the fine sandblasting. Its compactness makes it ideal as a pipe to carry around all day. It is also practical as it can be set down without falling over. Its thick walls are very practical as they ensure it never gets too hot. The double sandblasting makes it very pleasant to hold, as if it were ‘softer’ to the touch. Excellent for walking about given its reduced tendency to show streaks and marks. It is renowned for producing dry smoke.
