A hand-carved white meerschaum pipe, in the classic curved billiard style, with a traditional mouthpiece in yellow, amber-streaked methacrylate. Classified as an ‘Air Cooled’ pipe. The pipe is very elegant and refined; the white colour lends it a sense of purity. Its clean, simple lines ensure it never goes out of fashion, and its tall bowl ensures the smoke is always fresh and dry. Its defining feature is the ‘air-cooled’ technique, which is carried out entirely by hand. The process involves using a small drill fitted with bits and cutters to carve the surface. The result is a textured finish that makes it very pleasant to smoke, as it warms the hand less. The pipe is medium to large in size and stands out for its generously sized bowl, ensuring excellent smokeability in any situation. Its light weight makes it ideal for any smoking session, whether out for a walk or sitting comfortably in an armchair, although many people are reluctant to carry it about. Indeed, if a meerschaum pipe falls to the ground, only the mouthpiece survives. The characteristic of meerschaum is that it enhances the flavour of the tobacco, without adding or taking anything away. It is said to have no ‘memory’, as even when changing the blend, it leaves no unpleasant residues. It requires no running-in and does not suffer from scorching. The beauty of meerschaum lies in observing the changes it undergoes with each smoke. It changes from white to amber, then turns pink and, eventually, becomes brown.
The pipe for sale is exactly as shown in the photos. Once sold, as it is handmade and therefore unique, the pipe will be removed from the website. The actual colour of the pipe may vary slightly from the photo, as every monitor displays colours differently. The measurements have been taken accurately but may vary by a millimetre, either way.
